Better or WORSE

Lightbulb moment.

I was listening to a friend vent. Just listening, no need to chime in. I was filing my nails and offering what she needed. A listening ear and a few “I get it”s and “I understand”s.

We have a thing we do. We can call and say “I just need a few minutes to get this out” and that’s what we do. For the listener, it’s in one ear and out the other, no fixing, no judging.

I have friends call each week and we share the gritty and the good, the prayer needs and the praises. That’s what friends are for. The sharing of our lives, the laying down of our life for each other for a few moments.

I was having a thought of our collective conversations that was circling but couldn’t quite land. I was on the edge of discovery of a growing stone, a lesson of a stepping stone. I just couldn’t quite get there.

I have been praying on clarity amidst all my prayers for patience. I really needed this thought to land.

It finally did. Sweet relief! It landed when I saw this thought of Joyce Meyers. It sparked and inspired the clarity I was looking for.

“We all have challenges, but we make them better or worse by the way we talk about them” ~Joyce Meyer

My lightbulb moment is just this. The difference between our “problems” and our “challenges” is simple. We call them problems when we don’t want to deal with them or they seem insurmountable. We call them “challenges” when we feel we have the resources to succeed or it’s in our wheelhouse to overcome them.

Semantics, yes, but a world of difference emotionally.

Change your thoughts and you change your world. ~Norman Vincent Peale

Changes the game. Instantly.

Every problem eventually has a solution. Every challenge can be overcome. It’s the way we think of the issue, at the very beginning, and the instant way we categorize it that makes a difference.

I love a challenge. I do not like problems. I think I’ll change my mind on a few things and take a new look at them as challenges. It’s ON!

Our first snowfall of the SEASON

What a beautiful day in Kentucky.

The first snowfall has our trees coated with a gorgeous glistening snow.

The horses are running through fields of white winter wishes.

Our school kids are celebrating a snow day. Hot chocolate, warm mittens, movies and cozy quilts…

These are the days memories are made of.

Thank you to William Buff Bradley for graciously sharing his beautiful photo. IMG_0862.JPG
