I love Autumn!
We are decorating our house for Autumn! It is the beginning of the season, and the beginning of how we will transform our home into a pumpkin-filled delight.
It is a chilly September day in Kentucky. The air is cool and the sun is hiding behind thick hanging clouds, preparing us for the upcoming colder months. A perfect day for apple cider or a pumpkin spice latte to welcome Autumn and decorate.
I have collected vintage and vintage-inspired autumn decorations for years. I have handcrafted hundreds of pumpkins, gourds, signs, sweet black cats, witches, ghosts, leaves and autumn doll ladies for our gift shop. I have painted and sewn so many sweet scarecrow faces, all one of a kind, all special.
Each decoration, sweet little black cat face or pumpkin grin or silly witch’s shoe holds a memory. Every painted autumn leaf, owl’s funny expression and pumpkin lady’s homespun dress reminds me of autumns passed.
Days like today bring excitement for all things Autumn: apple pie and apple butter, sweaters, boots, colorful falling leaves, trips to the pumpkin patch, big harvest moons.
What are some of your fall favorites?
